MARK T. WILSON
ARTIST BIO
Mark Wilson, born in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1981, has always been passionate about art. From a young age, he knew he wanted to be an artist and create work that would leave a lasting impact. However, his path to becoming a full-time artist was not without challenges.
Throughout his life, Wilson has struggled with anxiety and depression, experiences that have shaped his artistic style and subject matter. He believes his creativity comes from tapping into his subconscious and expressing emotions through his work. For him, art without emotion is meaningless, and he strives to make pieces that resonate deeply with viewers.
Wilson’s process involves breaking down subjects he finds visually appealing and recreating them through his own unique vision. He has a love for irony, blending serious themes with a human touch, and weaving in elements of hope, hopelessness, the macabre, and the mundane. This unconventional approach gives his work a distinct and sublime quality.
Boldness is something Wilson values in art, and he embraces it in his own creations. Whether exploring themes of life and death, the natural or supernatural, he aims to captivate viewers and provoke thought. His works often combine light and enlightenment with darkness and doom, reflecting the intertwined nature of existence.
Color plays a vital role in his work, helping draw attention and presenting dark or unconventional themes in a playful, almost innocent style. Wilson’s art spans surrealism, distortion, portraiture, and abstraction, and he works with a variety of mediums, including mixed media.
